Why can faculty no longer request chapters through the online course reserve request form?
Answer
Beginning in the fall 2025 semester, chapter scanning will no longer be provided via the online course reserve request form. Faculty have several options for proving readings to students:
- Available e-resources: utilize electronic resources already available via OneSearch and link to these directly from Canvas using the OneSearch Permalink.
- Self-scanning: scan chapters yourself and upload them directly to Canvas.
- Traditional reserves: place physical books on reserve at the library for students to borrow. The library accepts personal books owned by faculty as reserve items.
- Hybrid approach: if you wish to provide the first few chapters of a text via Canvas while also placing the book on reserve, we ask that you make those scans yourself before turning in the book for reserve.
